News Jump Tuesday February 05, 2019 09:50:03 The Bend maker Shmuel Tuchman is selling a soda machine that turns any old plastic beverage can into a beverage dispenser.
The company, which is known for its reusable plastic grocery bags, said Monday that it is partnering with Samsung to produce the $200 Shrunk Machines.
Tuchmans new company, The Bending Machine Group, has plans to start shipping to stores in February.
It is available at select grocery stores and online.
The machines work by squeezing the can down to a thin film that shrinks into a plastic bag.
The plastic bag can be reused to make new reusable bottles.
Tichman said the Shrinks are also reusable if they are used in a commercial setting.
The Benders can be used to make beer, coffee and other beverages, Tuchmann said.
The maker of soda machines said it will sell the machines in vending machines, grocery stores, grocery trucks and on grocery shelves.
“It’s a really interesting opportunity to be a small business that is able to make a change that can make a big impact,” Tuchmen said.
